Q: Can I use avatars for paid advertising?
A: You cannot use stock avatars for any form of paid advertising or T.V. broadcasting, to do this, you must purchase a custom avatar. Please visit our Video Licensing article for more information.
Q: Can Avatars combine languages while speaking?
A: Currently, Avatars cannot combine languages at the moment. For example, combining English and Spanish words on the same text will lead to the script not being recognised correctly by the AI. You are able to look into spelling the word you need for a foreign language phonetically. It is possible however, to have different languages on different scenes within the same project.
Q: Can Avatars change emotions?
A: Currently avatars cannot change or display emotions controlled by users. This includes smiling, crying, ‘humming’, etc. However some avatars can showcase certain gestures like frowning, winking, verbal nods etc. Find out more about using gestures here.
Q: Can I change the speed or tone of a voice in Synthesia?
A: Currently it is not possible to change the voice speed or voice tone of the avatar. There are a wide variety of voices and accents available in different languages which may suit the speed and tone you are looking for.
Q: How long does it take to create a custom Avatar?
A: When a custom Avatar is submitted, and providing a payment has been taken, and accepted by our avatar team, it takes a minimum of 10 working days for the avatar to be ready.
Q: Can I use the Messi or Beckham Avatars?
A: Unfortunately it is not possible to use these Avatars as they were specifically made for commercial campaigns and are subject to copyright.
Q: Can I have a non-human (cartoons, 3D renders, GANs) avatar?
A: No. Currently we can only create avatars based on real human beings. We cannot create avatars of cartoons, animals, 3D renders, objects or human images generated through GANs.
Q: Can I create an avatar from a celebrity, politician or a historical character?
A: No. It is not possible to create avatars for anyone without the explicit consent of the person involved. This includes celebrities, politicians and any celebrities alive or deceased.
Q: Is it possible to create child avatars?
No you are not able to create child avatars. All avatars must be 18+.
Q: Can I have multiple Avatars on one scene?
A: This is now possible with the Dialogue Feature, you can have up to 20 avatars per scene. You can find out more about the feature here.
Q: Can the Avatars change clothing?
A: You can now customise avatar clothing on several of our avatars, using Avatar Builder.
Q: Why is my avatar not moving?
A: Our avatars do not animate in the preview or in draft mode as we currently do not render the avatars in real time. Please note all avatars will be animated once the video is generated.
Q: Is it possible to move a custom avatar from a personal plan to a corporate plan?
A: Yes, if there is a change in your plan it will be organically carried over.
