Custom avatars are based on real people: you submit an image or footage, and Synthesia builds the avatar from it. They work well for projects requiring personal branding or when your presence in the video matters.

Upload a photo — Create a Personal Avatar from a single image. No filming required.
Record a video — Record yourself using your webcam, or upload existing footage.

Studio Avatars are a paid add-on filmed in a professional studio or submitted using a high-quality at-home setup. They deliver premium production value.
Processing typically takes 1 to 10 business days, depending on the recording method.

We require explicit consent from the person whose likeness is used to create the avatar, so it isn't possible to make an avatar of a celebrity or politician without their consent.
Can I create a cartoon Custom Avatar?
Can I create a cartoon Custom Avatar?
It is not possible to take footage of cartoon characters and turn them into custom avatars. Avatars can only be created from real human footage with explicit consent.
