This feature is in Beta. While we’ve worked hard to make Selfie Avatars accurate and realistic, there are still some limitations, and you may occasionally encounter issues such as:
The avatar may not fully capture your likeness.
Facial expressions or proportions might differ slightly.
Your feedback during this phase is essential as we continue refining the technology to ensure the final version exceeds expectations.
To create a Selfie Avatar:
Navigate to the Selfie Avatar creation page on the left-hand side menu.
Upload at least 5 high-quality photos that only contain your face—nobody else's.
Record the consent video allowing Synthesia to create an avatar based on your likeness. This step is mandatory to ensure compliance with Synthesia's privacy and security policies.
Once your photos and consent video are submitted, the system will process them to create sample versions of your avatar.
To generate images of yourself in specific settings, use the prompt box at the bottom of the screen. This will create new versions of your avatar based on the prompts you provide.
To save a Selfie Avatar for use in a Synthesia video:
Choose your desired image and select it.
From there, you can either record a brief voiceover to animate it into a short video as an example or select the Save to My Avatars icon in the top-right corner to access it later in the Synthesia Editor.
You can now create videos using your selfie avatar in the Synthesia Editor just as you would with other avatars.
Notes:
The feature is currently optimized for short videos (up to 10 seconds).
For best results, use high-quality well lit photos. Avoid exaggerated expressions or obstructions like hats or glasses with glare. We recommend using some photos with teeth.
To delete your selfie avatar, select the thumbnail image located at the left of the prompt box, select the three dots, and then the delete option.
