✍️ Syren is a beta feature. Credit amounts and what you see in Syren may change.

Syren uses credits as it builds and refines your video. Each user receives free Syren launch credits to start creating for free. After your launch credits run out or expire, Syren uses the standard credits in your account. This article explains what launch credits are, how many credits a video uses, and what you see in Syren.

Syren Launch Credits

Syren launch credits are a free allowance for each user.

Launch credits:

  • Work in Syren only.

  • Belong to one user and cannot be shared, transferred, exchanged, or redeemed.

  • Expire on November 9, 2026 at 23:59 BST.

How Many Credits a Syren Video Uses

The number of credits a Syren video uses depends on how much Syren builds and how many changes you ask for. Your launch credits cover about one video of one minute with a few rounds of edits. Long back-and-forth sessions use many more credits and can go beyond your launch credits.

Syren shows your credit use as a single total called Syren usage, without a breakdown by component.

Edits and Chat Messages

Edits and chat messages use credits in Syren. Every round of chat edits uses credits, not just the finished video.

When Launch Credits Run Out or Expire

When your launch credits run out or expire, Syren starts to use the standard credits in your account. Syren does not show a notification when this switch happens.

  • Basic, Starter, and Pro plans: Syren uses the credits in your plan. If your credit use goes above the credits in your plan, your plan details show a message that you are out of credits and in arrears, with a Top up button. Syren deducts the credits you used beyond your balance from your next top-up and does not charge them separately. To check your balance, check out How do I check my credit balance in Synthesia?

  • Enterprise plans: Syren uses your organization’s or workspace’s credits.

When all credits are used, Syren shows the message “Oops... You don’t have enough credits left.” with an Upgrade now button.

What You See in Syren

Syren shows a credits icon with the prompt box. Hover over the icon to see where you are consuming credits from:

  1. While you have launch credits, the icon shows that you have free Syren credits left. Hover over the icon to see your remaining free Syren credits and the typical credit use for a one-minute video.

  2. After your launch credits are used, hover over the icon to see the credits left in your workspace.

  3. When all credits are used, a message reads “Oops... You don’t have enough credits left.” with an Upgrade now button.

Syren Credits on Enterprise Plans

Syren credits on Enterprise plans work in two stages: launch credits first, and then your organization’s or workspace’s credits.

  • Every provisioned Enterprise user receives Syren launch credits.

  • Launch credits belong to the individual user. There is no organization pool or workspace pool for launch credits.

  • After a user’s launch credits are used or expire, Syren uses your organization’s or workspace’s credits.

  • Org admins can see each time a user uses credits in Syren, with the date, the time, the user, and the number of credits. Each entry reads “Consumed” followed by the number of credits and “to syren tokens”.

  • Enterprise admins can set a monthly credit limit for each user on the plan. When a user reaches the limit, that user cannot generate in Syren or in any other part of Synthesia until the limit resets. The user sees the message "You've reached your monthly credit limit" with the reset date.
