Content Moderation Appeals

Updated over a week ago

At Synthesia, we’re committed to maintaining a safe and respectful platform. That’s why every video generated on our platform goes through a moderation process. If your content is rejected or your account is banned, you have the right to appeal the decision. Here’s how our content moderation and appeals process works.

Appeals are available only to customers on paid plans. If you are using Synthesia on a freemium basis, you will not have access to the appeals process. This policy helps us prioritize dedicated support and thorough reviews for paying customers, ensuring we can provide timely and meaningful responses to each case.

Banned Account Appeals

How Warnings Work:

When a video is rejected by a moderator, you will receive a notification explaining that the content was not approved due to a breach of platform guidelines. These notifications act as formal warnings and are designed to help you understand what went wrong so you can adjust future content accordingly.

After multiple warnings have been issued, you will receive a final warning notification. This message will clearly state that one more rejected video may result in a permanent account ban. The final warning is a serious notice and represents your last opportunity to correct the pattern of violations and continue using Synthesia responsibly.

This system is part of Synthesia’s preventative approach to moderation. Rather than banning customers outright, we aim to educate and encourage responsible use of the platform while protecting the safety of our platform.

If your account has been banned for a serious breach of our Terms of Service, you will receive an email with details and a link to appeal.

Appeal Outcomes

Every appeal has two possible outcomes, and you will be notified of the result via email.

  • Appeal Approved - Your account will be reinstated.

  • Appeal Rejected - The ban remains in place.

Please note that all appeal decisions are final. We are unable to reconsider or review the case again once a decision has been made.

How Appeals Are Reviewed

To ensure fairness and objectivity, all appeals go through a separate and independent review process. This means that the moderator who initially rejected your video or actioned your account ban will not be the same member of the team reviewing your appeal.

We take this approach to ensure that all decisions are impartial, transparent, and grounded in our Terms of Service, Acceptable Use Policy and Content Moderation Policies.

This separate review process helps us maintain the integrity of our moderation system while giving every customer a fair opportunity to be heard.
