Self-Serve Roleplay Sessions lets you buy learner seats with a credit card and start assigning roleplays the same day. This article covers buying seats, adding learners, and managing your seat count.

Before you start
You need admin access to your Synthesia workspace
You need a credit card
Decide roughly how many learners you want to give access to
Roleplay Session learner seats are a separate subscription that sits alongside your Studio plan. The two are billed and managed on their own, so changing your Studio plan does not cancel or re-price your learner seats.
Buy learner seats
Go to Account, then select Billing.
Find the Roleplay Sessions section and select Buy now.
Enter the number of learner seats you need, from 1 to 100.
Choose annual or monthly billing. All seats in the subscription share one cadence and one renewal date.
Enter your card details and confirm your billing address.
Select Complete purchase.
Your seats are active as soon as the payment goes through.
Add learners to the Learner Portal
Open the Learner Portal.
Select Add learners.
Choose how to add them:
Invite people one at a time by email address
Upload a CSV file to add people in bulk
Each learner receives an email invitation and can sign in and start a roleplay.
âď¸ A learner account is not a Synthesia creator seat and does not consume one. Learner access is covered by your learner seat licences.
Manage your seats
You can change your seat count at any time from Account, then Billing.
Add more seats
Go to Account, then select Billing.
On the Roleplay Sessions plan card, select Manage seats.
Enter the new total number of seats.
Confirm the change.
New seats are charged pro rata to your existing renewal date, so all seats renew together on one date and one invoice.
Remove seats
Go to Account, then select Billing.
On the Roleplay Sessions plan card, select Manage seats.
Reduce the seat count and confirm.
Seats you remove stay active until the end of the paid term, and the lower price applies from your next billing date. There is no mid-term refund. You cannot reduce your seat count to zero. To end the subscription, cancel the plan instead.
Swap a learner into a freed seat
Unseating a learner frees the licence for someone else straight away. The learner's record and full progress history are kept, so you can give them a seat again later without losing anything.
Cancel the plan
Go to Account, then select Billing.
On the Roleplay Sessions plan card, select Cancel plan.
Cancellation takes effect at renewal. Your seats stay active and usable until the end of the paid term.
Track your usage
Your current session consumption appears in the Billing tab of your account information, so you can see how many plays remain before the cap.

Troubleshooting
I get an error when I try to pay by card
If your email domain belongs to an existing Enterprise Studio account, credit card purchase is blocked. Talk to sales to buy Roleplay Sessions for an Enterprise account.
My learners have not received their invitation
Check that the email addresses are correct and ask learners to look in their spam folder. If invitations still do not arrive, contact support.
I want to buy Roleplay Sessions without a paid Studio plan
You can. Every account has at least a free Basic plan, and no paid Studio plan is required to buy learner seats. Basic plan customers who buy learner seats also get access to Assistant to help build roleplays.
