What is Folder Sharing?

Folder Sharing lets you control who can access a folder in Synthesia. You can share a folder with specific people or set access for your workspace, depending on who should be able to view, comment on, or edit its contents.

How to manage folder sharing settings

  1. Create a new folder or locate an existing folder in your workspace.

  2. Click the ellipsis next to the folder to open the folder action menu.

  3. Select Collaborate.

  4. You can share the folder on the individual or workspace level:

    • Share the folder with specific members or external guests by entering their email address and setting an access level for each person.

    • Set an access level for all workspace users.

Access levels

  • Full access – Can edit and share

  • Can edit – Can edit but can't share

  • Can comment – Can comment but can't edit or share

  • No access - Workspace members do not get access to this folder by default

✍️ Only the folder creator can define the default sharing controls.

πŸ’¬FAQs

Can I share a folder with someone outside my workspace?

Yes. You can share a folder with external guests and set their specific access level. External guests will only see folders explicitly shared with them.

Can individual files have different permissions from the folder?

Yes. File-level permissions can be set more broadly than the folder's default sharing setting.

What is the default workspace-level access for a folder?

The default workspace-level access depends on where the folder is created. If you create a folder in a workspace, the entire workspace has Full access by default. If you create a folder in My videos, the default workspace-level access is No access.
