This change only applies to customers on the Enterprise Plan. If you're not on the Enterprise Plan and would like to upgrade, please Contact Synthesia Support or refer to our guide: How do I upgrade my Synthesia plan?
We’ve introduced a new system to manage usage of certain features in Synthesia: credits.
Credits are now the shared currency for all of Synthesia’s usage-based features. Whether you're using AI Dubbing, Bulk Personalization, or the API, credits help simplify billing, give you more flexibility, and make it easier to track usage across your team.
Why are we switching to credits?
Previously, each feature had its own usage metric—usually measured in minutes. That made it harder to manage and plan usage across multiple add-ons.
With credits, you’ll now:
Use a central pool of credits across all eligible features
Allocate credits to different workspaces and teams
Track usage with consistent units and receive alerts when you're nearing limits
What features use credits?
Credits are currently used for:
AI Dubbing
Bulk Personalization
API access
Each feature consumes a different number of credits per minute of use:
1 min of AI Dubbing with Lipsync = 240 Credits
1 min of AI Dubbing without Lipsync = 120 Credits
1 minute of Bulk Personalization = 90 credits
1 minute of API usage = 75 credits
How do admins manage and allocate credits?
After credits are added to your account, they appear on the Billing page—visible to Org Admins, or Workspace Admins if no Organization is set up.
To start using credits, Admins must first go to General → Feature Settings and enable the desired products for each workspace and assign the right users. Once enabled, those workspaces will appear in the Billing dashboard, where Admins can:
Allocate credits to each workspace
Monitor usage with automated alerts at 75%, 90%, and 100% consumption
When credit usage reaches 100%, feature access is paused until additional credits are added.
Can I control which features use credits?
Yes. You can enforce more granular usage control by enabling workspace limits.
If workspace limits are disabled, enabled products in any workspace will draw credits from the central organization pool.
If workspace limits are enabled, you can:
Allocate a specific number of credits per workspace
Ensure credits are only used for features you've enabled in that workspace
Control which teams can access which paid features
This is especially useful if you want to dedicate credits to one feature or limit spending to specific teams.
What do users see?
Users will see:
The available credits in their workspace (if workspace limits are enabled)
The credits consumed for each action when using features that require credits
Is there reporting?
Yes. You can export a .csv report of detailed credit consumption under the Insights tab. This helps you track usage across features, users, and workspaces.
What happens to existing minutes in my account?
Any unused minutes in your account will automatically be converted into credits. These will appear in your account and be ready to use immediately.
Example of minutes to credit conversion:
50 minutes of AI Dubbing → 50 × 240 = 12,000 credits
100 minutes of Bulk Personalization → 100 × 90 = 9,000 credits
Total: 21,000 credits added to your account.

Notes:
Credits are valid until your contract end date. Any unused credits will expire when your contract ends
