Deleting a video in Synthesia moves it to the trash, where you can restore it within 30 days. After that window, the video is permanently removed. This article explains what happens at each stage.
What happens when you delete a video
When you delete a video in Synthesia, it goes through two stages:
The video moves to the trash folder, where it can be restored for up to 30 days.
After 30 days — or if you choose to permanently delete it before then — the video is removed from the system, including all backups.
✍️ Permanent deletion cannot be undone. Once a video is permanently deleted, it is removed from all backups and cannot be recovered. If you are unsure, restore the video from the trash folder before the 30-day window closes.
Things to know before you delete
Keep the following in mind before you delete a video:
Deleting a video does not refund or restore the credits used to create it.
If the deleted video was part of a translation set, it is detached from the root video and removed from the translation folder.
✍️ Credits are not returned when you delete a video. To learn more about how credits work, check out the Self-serve users guide to credits.
