How to Access Templates
You can access the templates in Synthesia from four different areas which we
Option 1: From the Top Bar on the Home Screen
You can browse and preview a selection of templates directly from the top bar on your home screen.
Option 2: From the Templates Section
You can browse and preview all available templates by clicking on Library in the left side menu on your home screen.
When following the Option 1 and Option 2 route, you are able to preview your selected template. If you are satisfied with it and would like to use it for your video, click on Create video button.
The first template scene will be added automatically, to add the remaining scenes select the + sign.
Since you have already selected a template, this will open a menu for you to choose a specific scene to add or add all. If you no longer wish to use a previously added scene, right-click on it and select "delete".
Option 3: From Creating a New Video
A pop-up screen will appear once you select the new video button, allowing you to browse the available templates and select one or start with a blank template.
When following this route, you can preview the template within the video preview section. To add the template to your video, use the Use this template button as shown below.
After adding the template, you may notice that only one scene appears.
To add a further scene, select the + sign. Since you have already selected a template, this will open a menu for you to choose a specific scene to add or add all. If you no longer wish to use a previously added scene, right-click on it and select Delete.
Option 4: From the Video Creation Area
You can browse and select a template directly from the video creation area by clicking on the replace scene layout drop down in the right-side menu bar.
When following this route, selecting your template will direct you to a further menu that opens up all the available scenes for that template. From there, you can hover over each scene and add them accordingly.
How to Create Templates
There are two ways to create a template: starting from scratch, or converting an existing video into a template.
Creating a Template from Scratch
To create a template from scratch, first click the Library button in the left-side menu of your home screen and select templates.
To get started, click on the Create New Template button located in the top right section of the app. This will take you to the video creation area where you can begin designing your template.
When you have finished creating your template, click Publish Template.
This will prompt you to give your template a title and description. You can also choose to include captions by turning the toggle on or off
Once your template is generated, you can find it in the My templates section.
Converting a Video into a Template
You can convert an existing video into a template. To do this, select the generated video you want to convert and click on the three dots at the top right corner of your screen. A drop-down menu will appear.
Select the Create Template button to begin the process and make any necessary adjustments.
When you're ready to create your template, select the Publish Template button. Give your template a title and description, and don't forget to enable or disable the Include captions option if you wish.
Once your template is generated, it will be added in the My Templates section.
Share a Template
Templates cannot currently be shared as templates, and will need to be shared as videos. Afterwards, anyone you share with who has a Synthesia account can create a template from your video. Follow the steps below to achieve this.
In order to share a template, publish your template, and then click to create a video from template. Click Use this template.
Add in your template sides by adding slides from the left-hand side. This will allow you to pick which template slides you would like to add.
Generate your video. After the video is successfully generated, publish the video and enable “duplication” under share page options.
You can then copy the link and send to someone you would like to share with. They will be able to duplicate the video and generate the video to their account.
Once they have created the video, they can create a template from video and publish it to their account!
