How do I publish a Roleplay Session to the Learner Portal?

Publish your roleplay to the Learner Portal so you can assign it to learners, track completion, and measure coaching effectiveness.

Written by Meg Farley

📌 The Learner Portal is available in Self-Serve and Custom tiers. Free tier users can create and preview roleplays but cannot publish to the portal. See Which Roleplay Sessions plan is right for you? to learn more about upgrading.

Publishing a roleplay prepares it for assignment to learners in your Learner Portal. Once published, you can assign it to teams, track their progress, and view detailed analytics including skill-level breakdowns and coaching feedback.

Review your Roleplay Session before publishing

Your Rolepay Session is already created and generated. Preview it one final time to confirm everything works as intended.

Verify:

  • All scenes are present (scripted, roleplay, feedback)

  • Persona and scenario are clear

  • Objections feel realistic

  • Skills are configured with appropriate weightage

  • Passing score threshold makes sense

  • Retries are enabled or disabled as intended

  • Feedback coach messaging is appropriate

If you need to make changes, go back to the editor, update the configuration, regenerate, and preview again.

Managing published Roleplay Sessions

Unpublish a Roleplay Session

If you need to remove a Roleplay Session from availability (e.g., it's outdated), you can unpublish it. Learners who already started can still complete it, but new learners cannot access it.

  1. Open the published Roleplay Session in Synthesia.

  2. Select the trash icon in the video share menu.

💬 FAQs

Can I unpublish a Roleplay Session if learners are currently taking it?

Yes. Learners in progress can continue and finish, but new learners cannot access it. Existing scores and feedback remain.

What's the difference between publishing and assigning?

Publishing makes the Roleplay Session available in your library to be assigned. Assigning sends it to specific learners. You must publish before you can assign.

If I edit a published Roleplay Session, do past attempts get rescored?

No. Past attempts keep their original scoring. Only new attempts use the updated configuration.

Can multiple admins publish Roleplay Sessions?

Yes. Anyone with organization admin or creator role can publish.
