Media Reporting (News)

Written by Jess Diaz-Gomes

Quick Summary

If your script has been flagged, it may be because it contains language that could be interpreted as unverified news, defamatory claims, conspiracy content, or climate misinformation. This category also covers polarizing propaganda and content based on rumor or gossip with the intent to cause harm.

News and media content is well supported on Synthesia, from journalism training and internal company updates to fictional news formats, satire, and public interest reporting. Accuracy, clear sourcing, and transparent framing are what make the difference. In certain cases, adjusting the framing or sourcing is enough to resolve the issue

✍️ This category is not available for stock avatars or a voice narration (voice-only). Breaking news, current events, and public interest reporting require a Custom Avatar and are available on Corporate accounts only.

How to Fix This

Review your script with these points in mind:

  • Ensure all factual claims are verifiable and accurately sourced. Avoid exaggerated headlines, fabricated details, or framing that could mislead viewers about real events.

  • Remove any statements that attribute false or damaging claims to real individuals or organizations, even phrased as rumor, speculation, or 'some people say'.

  • Avoid framing content around conspiracy theories or hidden agenda narratives, even when presented as questions or alternative perspectives.

  • Ensure all climate-related content aligns with scientific consensus. Avoid denying, downplaying, or misrepresenting established climate science or emergency guidance.

  • Avoid polarizing or divisive language about individuals, political groups, or institutions that could be read as propaganda.

  • For fictional news content, make the fictional nature clearly apparent. Clearly exaggerated, satirical, or labelled content that no reasonable viewer would mistake for genuine reporting is supported.

  • Internal company news and updates are permitted. Ensure no confidential information or third-party details are included.
