How do I add and customize shapes in my video?

Learn how to add shapes to your scenes in Synthesia and change their colors to match your brand or style.

Add a shape to your scene

  1. Open your video project in Synthesia.

  2. Click the Shape icon in the top menu bar.

  3. Select the shape you want to use (e.g., rectangle, circle).

  4. Drag the shape to position and resize it within your scene.

  5. To change the colour of the shape:

    1. Select the shape on your canvas to select it.

    2. In the right-hand menu, select Fill.

    3. Choose a new color for the shape.

    4. (Optional) Select the Gradient option to apply a two-tone effect.

How do I add a shape with no fill, just a border?

Select the Shape icon and choose the border-only option when picking your shape. This gives you an outline with a transparent center, which is useful for highlighting part of the screen without covering it.

Change I change all the shapes to the same colour?

Yes, use the Change all button in the Fill section to apply the new color to all shapes with the same original color.
