A Survey Session uses an Avatar to run a spoken survey or interview, then turns the responses into a themed report. You can build one in two ways, with Assistant or by adding an AI Survey scene to a video. Use a Survey Session to gather structured feedback, such as customer input or training needs.
Create with Assistant
You can create a Survey Session in a few steps using Assistant.
On the Home page, select Create Survey.
In the prompt box, describe what you want to learn and the goal of your survey.
Submit your prompt to open the Assistant setup screen.
Under Design, choose a Delivery style, then either a Template or a Style.
Review the outline. Assistant drafts your video and survey scenes, including the questions that will appear in your survey. From the outline, you can:
Edit the text in any section, including the survey questions
Delete a section
The survey scene can't be deleted
Select Add to add a new section
Select Continue to editor to open your video in the Editor.
In the Editor, Assistant builds your survey scene with a starting set of questions.
Edit the questions and adjust the scene to fit your survey.
Generate your video.
Add a Survey Scene Manually
You can add an Survey scene to any new or existing video.
In a new or existing video, select + Add scene.
Choose the AI Survey scene type.
Set the Avatar and voice for your survey.
Define your survey goal. What you want the Avatar to learn from the conversation.
Add your questions, and set the probe depth for each one:
None: the Avatar asks once and moves on.
Light: one brief follow-up if the answer is very short.
Moderate: follows up once or twice for a fuller answer.
Deep: keeps probing until the answer is complete.
Set the Survey Time limit.
đĄ Not every question needs deep probing. Save Deep for the questions where the "why" matters most, and use None or Light for simple factual questions.
âď¸ A Survey scene doesn't score or assess the respondent â there's no pass/fail. It's for collecting information only.
Publish and Share
Publish your Survey Session to share it and start collecting responses.
Once configured, select Generate to process your Survey Session. When it's ready, share it the same way you'd share any Synthesia video: share page link, HTML embed, or SCORM package. Anyone who opens the link can complete the survey, no Synthesia account or login required.
