How do I view quiz analytics in Synthesia?

Learn how to view quiz analytics in Synthesia. Track learner scores, filter by performance, drill into individual attempts, and export raw quiz data as a CSV.

Written by Meg Farley

📌 Quiz analytics are only available on the Enterprise plan.

To upgrade your plan, book a demo with our sales team.

You can use quiz analytics to see how learners are performing on quizzes in your Synthesia videos. The Results tab in video analytics gives you a score distribution across all learners, a per-learner drill down with full attempt history, and the option to export raw data as a CSV.

✍️ The Results tab only appears for videos that contain interactive quiz questions. If you do not see it, check that your video has at least one quiz question added before it was published.

To view quiz analytics for a video

  1. Navigate to a published video's overview page.

  2. Select Analytics in the top right.

  3. Select the Results tab in the left panel.

Score Distribution

The Results tab opens with two summary stats at the top:

Total learners — the number of learners who have attempted the quiz.
Avg best score — the average of each learner's best attempt score.

score distribution chart

Below the summary stats, a score distribution chart shows learners' best attempt scores segmented by percentile, with the passing score threshold clearly marked. Select any bar to filter the learner table to that percentile band.

Learner Table

Below the distribution, a table shows each learner with the following columns:

Learner — the learner's name or anonymous identifier.
Sessions — the number of attempts the learner has made.
Best score — the learner's highest score across all attempts.
Status — whether the learner has completed the quiz.
Last session — the date and time of their most recent attempt.

Use the Search learner field to find a specific person. Use the All statuses filter to narrow the table by completion status.

Individual Learner Data

Select any learner in the table to open their full attempt history. A score progression chart shows how their scores have changed across attempts. Each attempt is listed with its date, score, and completion status. Their personal best is clearly marked.

Select any attempt to see question-level detail — the overall score, whether they passed, and their response to each quiz question.

Exporting Quiz Data

You can download raw quiz data as a CSV file.

  1. In the analytics sidebar, select Request CSV.

  2. The export is sent to your login email address.

  3. The CSV is delivered as a zip file. Each attempt is recorded as a separate row, so learners with multiple attempts appear more than once.

💡The raw quiz data CSV file usually arrives within a few minutes, though it can take up to 15 minutes.

Anonymous and Authenticated Learners

Analytics are captured for both anonymous and authenticated learners. To ensure learner identity is recorded:

  • Enable Record Learner Identity when downloading the SCORM package, or

  • Require SSO via Advanced settings in the Share menu.

✍️ Video analytics are only available for videos shared via Synthesia's video player — including embeds, SCORM packages, and the video share page link. Analytics are not available for .mp4 files uploaded to another platform.
