You can skip a section of an uploaded video in your Synthesia project using the pause and play controls—perfect for cutting out pauses, off-topic moments, or any part you don’t want in the final result. This lets you control playback without editing the original video file.
Pause and play effects only work on videos set to Stretch or Loop/Cut playback mode, and only on videos that aren't used as a scene background. If your video is set to Play Once, switch it before generating, or the effect won't apply to the final video even though it looks correct in preview.
How to skip part of a video
Add a pause — select the pause icon in the timeline toolbar at the point in the scene where you want the video to stop.
Find your new start point using the frame scrubber. Drag the scrubber to the frame where you want the video to continue playing.
Resume playback from the new position by selecting the play icon at that frame. The video will skip all frames between the pause and your selected resume point. It won't play the in-between segment at all.
✍️ This doesn’t edit the original video file, it simply skips over frames during playback.
