What is the AI Playground?

The AI Playground is a tool in Synthesia where you can generate short AI videos and images from a text prompt.

Anything you create in the AI Playground is automatically saved and available inside the Editor under Media — so you can drop it straight into a video without re-uploading.

How to generate a video or image asset

  1. Click AI Playground in the left navigation panel.

  2. Choose whether you want to create a Video or an Image.

  3. Select your model

    • Video: Sora 2, Veo 3.1, Veo 3.1 Fast

    • Image: Flux.2, Nano Banana Pro

  4. Select your aspect ratio

    • Landscape: 16:9

    • Portrait: 9:16

  5. Set the number of generations.

  6. (Optional) For Video: Set a Start frame or End frame image

    • Supported formats: PNG, JPG, and WebP

  7. Type your prompt.

  8. Click Generate.

✍️ Keep in mind: Each additional asset uses credits. The more assets you generate per prompt, the more credits you'll use.

💬 FAQs

How do I use start or end frames?

Start frames and End frames let you upload an image to control how a generated video clip starts, ends, or both. This is useful when you want a clip to transition from or into a specific visual. This is an optional step.

Is the uploaded frame used as a style reference?

No. The uploaded image is used as a literal first or last frame of the clip. If you upload a specific image, that exact image will appear in the video.

How do credits work in the AI Playground?

Generating media uses Synthesia credits. To see the credit break down per asset see the AI Playground documentation.

Will I be charged if an asset fails to generate?

No. Credits are only deducted for assets that are successfully generated. If a generation request fails, no credits are consumed.

Where do my generated assets get saved?

Anything you generate in the AI Playground is saved automatically and is also available in the Editor under Media.

Why can’t I see the AI Playground tool?

Workspace admin control access to the AI Playground using the AI-generated stock content setting. If you cannot see the tool, check with your admin.

How do I add a generated asset to the shared workspace Media library?

Generated assets are not automatically added to the shared workspace Media library. To share an asset with others, download it and then upload it to the workspace Media library or add it to a shared video.
