To use the AI Screen Recorder:

  1. Once installed, open an existing video in Synthesia and click Record at the top of the canvas.

    • Alternatively, create a new Synthesia video from scratch, by clicking the browser extension and clicking Record.

  2. Select either Full Screen, Window or particular browser tab and select your microphone if required.

  3. When clicking Record in the editor, if you already have a script, select No Microphone to play the script while recording.

  4. Once your options are selected, click Start recording and choose the page you wish to record and click Share.

  5. A countdown from three will commence and then your recording will begin.

  6. Once you have finished recording, click the stop icon, and your video will be generated into a new scene.

  7. From here, you are able to edit the video and scene. If required, you have the ability to trim your video. See the How do I trim a video in Synthesia? article to learn more.

If you choose to have a voiceover in your recording, Synthesia will:

  • transcribe the voiceover.

  • remove filler words.

  • split your recording into logical scenes.

Check out the AI screen recorder documentation to learn more.

Notes:

  • To minimize the screen recorder toolbar, click the arrow button on the left hand side of the bar. The toolbar is also moveable, so can be placed anywhere on the screen.

  • To prevent black space on the edges of your tab or window recordings, full-screen your browser and hide the browser toolbar before recording.

  • It is recommended that recordings be less than 30 minutes, however longer recordings are possible.

  • When you start a screen recording from the browser extension outside of Synthesia, it will automatically open Synthesia and create a new video once your recording is complete.

  • For screen recordings with voiceovers (initiated in-app) or from the browser extension, a default template is applied to the new scenes. Your selected brand kit and video template won't apply to these recordings.

  • Check out the How do I loop or stretch my video? article to learn how to achieve better timing on your screen recordings.
