While all Synthesia users can create videos in supported languages, advanced features like one-click translation and the multilingual video player functionality are exclusive to Enterprise Plan users.
Video dubbing, however, is available to all plans.
If you'd like to upgrade, contact Synthesia Support or visit the upgrade guide.
Synthesia’s translation and multilingual video features make it easy to localize your content for global audiences. These tools allow you to translate videos, use a multilingual video player, edit translations, and publish translated versions individually.
How do I translate my videos?
You can translate your video into multiple languages directly from your Synthesia workspace.
To translate your video:
Hover over the video you want to translate and select Translate.
In the Select Languages dropdown, choose one or more target languages.
Optional toggles:
Only translate the script – Keeps on-screen text in the original language.
Automatically generate videos – Automatically creates all translated versions.
Click Translate to begin the process.
A progress bar will appear in the bottom-right of your screen.
Once complete, a new folder will appear named:
Your Video Title - translations
. All translated and original versions will be stored here.
See the Video Translations documentation to learn more.
💡 Tip: If you don’t enable auto-generation, you’ll need to manually generate each translation.
How do I use the multilingual video player?
The multilingual video player allows viewers to choose their preferred language from within the video interface.
To enable the multilingual player:
Translate your Synthesia or dubbed video into multiple languages.
Make sure all translated versions have been generated.
Select the original video and click Share.
In the Publish panel, toggle on Include translations.
Click Create Link.
Copy the link or embed the video as needed.
Viewers will now see a language selector in the bottom right of the video player.
🔁 Switching languages: When using the multilingual player, switching to another language will load a new video file. Viewers will need to manually click Play on the new version.
📌 Note: Translations must be published under the original video to use the multilingual selector. To publish a translated video separately, follow the steps below.
How do I publish a translated video by itself?
To publish a translated video on its own, separate from the original video:
Duplicate the translated version you want to publish individually.
Generate the duplicated version.
Publish the video as you normally would.
This makes the translation independent from the original, allowing you to share it directly.
How do I edit a video with translations?
If you’ve made changes to the original video and want those edits reflected in all translated versions, you’ll need to retranslate them.
To update translations after editing:
Make your edits to the original video.
Click the language icon next to the video title.
Select Add translation.
In the Select Languages dropdown, choose Retranslate all.
This updates all existing translations as drafts. If these translations were already generated/published:
You must manually regenerate and re-publish each video for the updates to appear.
You can also:
Retranslate only specific languages
Add new languages while retranslating
See the Video Retranslations documentation to learn more.
