What is Media?

Media refers to any visual or audio asset you add to your video β€” images, video files, graphics, and audio. Adding media to your scenes makes your videos richer and easier to understand. Media includes elements such as:

  • Images

  • Video Files

  • Graphics

  • Audio

Add Media to a Scene

There are two ways to add media to a scene: upload your own files, or select from Synthesia's built-in stock libraries.

  1. Open your video.

  2. Select Media at the top of the canvas.

  3. Choose either Upload media to add your own file, or browse the stock libraries to find an image or video.

  4. Once selected, your media appears on the canvas. You can move, resize, and position it to fit your scene layout.

Upload Media

✍️ Accepted upload file types:

Browse Stock Libraries

πŸ“Œ Synthesia provides access to stock images and videos via integrated libraries.

  • Basic plan users may see watermarked previews.

  • Paid plans have access to Getty stock media in full resolution, without watermarks.

To view creator info for a stock media asset:

  • Select the asset to see the creator's name, or

  • Select the 3-dot menu, then select Copy ID and search on the stock provider's site for full details.

Set a Media Background

You can use any image or video as a full-scene background.

  1. Select the scene you want to update.

  2. In the right-side toolbar, toggle on Background media.

  3. Choose a solid color, a stock image or video, or an uploaded media file.

The background updates automatically on your canvas.
