What you can customize
For a new set of six expressive stock avatars you can customize:
Outfits: Dress avatars in industry-specific or branded clothing by describing the look you want.
Backgrounds: Create custom environments like a lab, office, or factory floor using text prompts.
B-roll: Generate short, AI-created clips of avatars performing actions like waving, walking, or dancing to enhance storytelling.
Customize an Avatar’s outfit
In the video editor, select Avatars.
Click Create outfit in the top-right of the picker.
Enter a text prompt
Example: “blue overalls with safety vest”
Select your preferred Avatar from the drop down options.
Click Create. Generation can take a few minutes.
You will be notified when the outfit is ready.
You can apply your generated outfit directly to your video and add to your favorites for future use.
Customize backgrounds
In the video editor, add a customizable Avatar to your video and click the Spaces option in the inspector panel.
Click Create space in the bottom-left of the picker.
Enter a text prompt describing the space or hit tab to auto generate a prompt based on your video script.
Example: “modern office with large windows”
Click Create. It will take a few minutes to create your custom space.
You will be notified when the Space is ready. You can apply your generated Space directly and add to your favorites for future use.
Once you've created custom Spaces and Avatar looks, you can mix and match them — using any outfit with any background.
💡 Once you’ve created custom outfits and spaces, you can use them to build videos in Synthesia — or take things further by generating B-roll footage that showcases your personalized avatars in action.
Create Avatar B-roll
In your video project, select Media at the top of the page.
Under the Create with AI tab, you’ll see the avatar and space currently used in your video.
Enter a text prompt describing the action you want the avatar to perform — or press Tab to auto-generate one from your video script.
Select the AI model you’d like to use for rendering.
Click the blue arrow to generate your clip. This will consume credits and render your Avatar B-roll.
