How can I restrict where videos from my workspace are distributed?

Learn how to use Restrict Embed Domains in Synthesia to control which domains can embed your videos.

Written by Jess Diaz-Gomes

You can now use Restrict Embed Domains to control where videos from your organization or workspace can be distributed. This feature helps ensure that videos are only viewable in approved environments and prevents unwanted public sharing.

Configure Embed Restrictions

  1. Go to your Organization / Workspace settings.

  2. Under Collaboration, find the Restrict Embed Domains section.

  3. Choose from the following controls:

    • Disable public video page: Toggle this setting to prevent all videos in your workspace from having a public share link. When enabled, the Video page settings in the share panel are automatically disabled for all videos.

    • Where can your videos be embedded? → Enter the list of domains where videos can appear. Any attempt to embed videos outside of these domains will be blocked.

💬 FAQs

Can videos with SSO protection be embedded on any domain?

Yes. Videos with SSO protection can be embedded on any domain, regardless of your Restrict Embed Domains settings.

Why won't my embedded video load?

Domain restrictions rely on the referrer value from the parent page. If this information is unavailable, for example when the referrer policy is set tono-referrer, the Synthesia video will not load.

Is Restrict Embed Domains a fully secure method of protecting my videos?

No. Restrict Embed Domains is a safeguard, not a fully secure method. For business-critical or sensitive content, we recommend using Single Sign-On (SSO) for stronger, identity-based access control.
