What is the Timeline?
The Timeline is a visual editing interface designed for complex scenes. It allows you to manage how and when elements like images, text, or avatars appear in your video. The length of a scene is always set by its longest element, so if one animation or asset runs longer than the rest, the scene continues until that element finishes.
With the Timeline, you can:
Visualize and organize layers
Drag to reorder layers
Rename layers
Group layers for easier editing
Expand and collapse groups
Add and control animations and effects
Stagger effects to match narration
Chain animations together (e.g., one starts when another ends)
Drag to change animation duration (animations only)
Drag to apply delays to animations and effects
Zoom in for fine control
Make precise adjustments to complex scenes. To zoom out, hold Ctrl and scroll your mouse wheel, or pinch on your trackpad.

How to access the Timeline
Open your video project and select a scene.
Select the Timeline tab in the script editor to see a Timeline view of the scene.
From here you can see all the different elements and layers.
Things you can do in the Timeline
Reorder layers: Drag elements up or down to change which appears in front or behind.
Rename elements: Select a layer, then use the context menu to rename it.
Add animations or effects:
Move the playhead to the moment you want.
Hover over a layer.
Select the + icon.
Choose an animation from the menu.
Edit timing: Drag animations to shift when they start, or drag their ends to change duration.
Sequence animations: Place one animation right after another to chain effects together.
💡 Animations vs. Effects: You can change animation duration by dragging the edge of the animation bar. Effects are fixed in duration.
✍️ The Timeline arrows move the playhead so you can preview your scene. They don't shorten a scene or remove a delay. To change how long a scene runs, adjust the elements inside it instead — for example, trim a video asset or change an animation's duration.
✍️ To add narration or spoken text, use the script box for the scene. The Timeline only controls when visual elements appear — it doesn't add what the avatar says.
