Simply put, a custom avatar is your avatar. It will look the same as our stock avatars, but with your likeness, and you will be able to create videos using it.

Currently, your custom avatar will not automatically have your own voice. However, you can choose to purchase a custom avatar and make use of our broad selection of synthetic voices, or you can request to have your own voice cloned as well. Further information on voice cloning can be seen here.

Please note that in order to create a Custom Avatar, you must be at least 18 years of age.

A custom avatar is created based on 15 minutes of footage of you speaking on camera, preferably in a professional studio. The requirements for the footage can be found below.

Please read the instructions carefully and remember that the quality of your footage will determine the quality of your custom avatar.

We currently offer the choice of a close-up framing or a wider framing for custom avatars. When you upload your footage into Synthesia Studio, you will be able to pick either framing. Please note that in cases where the technical requirements are not met, we will only be able to provide the close-up framing

From the day you provide the footage, it will take approximately 10 business days to create your custom avatar, providing a successful payment has been made. It will be delivered directly to your Synthesia STUDIO account.

Your custom avatar will only be available to you and will not form part of our stock avatars which available to all customers.

Your custom avatar is only available in your account, unless you specify otherwise.

We require the explicit consent of the person creating the avatar, which means that it is impossible to impersonate a celebrity or politician.

It is not possible to take footage of cartoon characters and turn them into custom avatars.

You can purchase a custom avatar by contacting our support team. Custom Avatars cost $1000/year and require an annual subscription.

When purchasing a custom avatar, you have the option to clone your voice. This means your avatar will not only look like you but also sound like you.

Please note that voice cloning is a separate process from creating your avatar's footage. To clone your voice, the team will provide you with a script. You will need to record yourself reading the script and send the recording back to us. Once we receive your recording, we will process it and notify you when it's ready. Please be aware that this process can take up to 3-4 weeks and is currently only available in English.

Once your Custom Avatar is produced and deployed to your STUDIO, refunds are not possible. If you are unhappy with your avatar, please contact our support team to discuss the issue and receive further assistance. To avoid any issues with your Custom Avatar and ensure that you receive it in the highest quality possible, please refer to all of the guides and requirements listed above prior to submitting your request / footage.
