Updated over a week ago

Within this article we will be looking at how to add screen recordings to your projects and were they are important and can help elevate your videos.

Why Use Screen Recordings?

Screen recording is a powerful tool for creating content as it allows you to demonstrate concepts to your audience with real-life visuals. Synthesia offers screen recording functionality that allows you to:

  • Record your entire screen, a specific window, or a Chrome tab.

  • Trim your video to suit your needs.

  • Manage the timing of your screen recording.

  • Sync your screen recording with your audio.

  • Save the screen recording in your Synthesia library for future use.

For further information on how to use these features, follow the guide and links provided below.

How to Record your Screen in Synthesia

To record your screen, select the Record button in the top menu of Synthesia, as shown below.

You have the option to record your entire screen, a specific window, or a Chrome tab.

If you've already typed your script in the Script Box, it will begin playing automatically when you start recording. This feature helps you synchronise the screen recording with the audio.

After finishing the recording, return to your Synthesia and press either Stop or Stop sharing on the screen you are currently on. This will automatically add your recording to your Synthesia scene. You also have the option to discard, which will end your current session without saving it, or pause it.

It is important to note that currently, each recording can be a maximum of 5 minutes.

The screen recording is also saved in your media My Library and becomes an asset that you can reuse in the future.

Once your recording is added to your scene you can expand or minimise your video to fit your entire scene or a section of your scene by dragging the outline of your recorded video accordingly.

While your screen recording is selected, you can also use the menu on the right-hand side to send it forward or backward. This enables you to add additional assets, titles, images, avatars, and more on top of your recording.

In addition, you can trim your video to suit your needs. To learn how to trim your screen recorded video, follow this handy guide.
